On Tuesdays we have about 50 minutes to eat dinner in between Monti's voice lessons and Dahlia's gymnastics. Joe met us down the hill at Denny's for dinner. After Dahlia was done eating she was antsy so she stood up outside our booth. I figured we were almost done and Denny's was pretty empty so I let her stay out there. I happened to snap this photo moments before she starting flicking her feet out of boredom. The flicking motion became stronger until one of her shoes came loose and soared through the restaurant landing on one of the only other occupied tables. Her shoe clanked on the plate and glass but some how avoided landing right in the middle of this lady's omelette. We were horrified and apologized right away. Dahlia started crying immediately because she really knew she had messed up this time.

Friday night back in session
Back to school means also getting back to our monthly mother's get together at a local Issaquah restaurant/bar. This time it was at Pogacha. I think after a couple weeks of school we all enjoyed the night out. One of the women told us an interesting story of how her son's boss bought a severely reduced$15 million estate (originally built for $25 million) in the Detroit area. After a couple months of living there they were thrilled when they discovered oil on the property. So now they will be receiving $2 million a year for the next 40 years from an oil company who wants to pump the oil.

the mystery of the parade of attractive men
As I was shopping in Bellevue square I kept seeing very attractive men
walking around by themselves. I know Joe will be pissed but it was
very difficult not to notice men dressed as nicely as they were. Over
a span of 20 minutes I saw about 3 different guys at various spots in
the mall and I knew something was up. I finally discovered they were
male models starting from a central runway on the upper floors of the
mall. They were there to celebrate Fashion week. I felt very foolish
taking the picture but I needed people to understand why they stood
out. What guy in Seattle is going to wear a hat like that in the mall? -
Curriculum night
This week all the parents met in their kid's classrooms to hear about
what their kids will be learning this year. I always find it funny
seeing all the adults sitting at such small desks and chairs. This is a picture of my friend Sally. -
Great bush fun
On occasion I pick up the girls from school instead of them taking the
bus home. If I do they always want to stay and play. Dahlia and her
friend Sabina have discovered the insides of these large bushes on the
school grounds. They both climb up within the bush with their nice
dresses and shoes until they are stuck and need help getting down.
Truth be told these bushes are a kid's dream for a hideout. I would
have killed for some of these in my backyard as a kid. -
brand new shoes ruined
While I was out with Monti a shoe disaster occurred. I had bought
Dahlia new shoes during the week which I still had in the box on top
of her dresser. When i came home I found Dahlia and Joe out in the
garage playing. Dahlia had her brand new shoes on as she dragged her
feet behind her little plasma car to act as brakes. By the time I
discovered what was going on she had nearly put a hole in each of the
shoes. I was furious at Joe for putting new shoes on her to play but
then found out that Dahlia had done that all on her own. -
Dress code
Both of these dresses cannot be worn to school according to the school's dress codes. All straps must be at least 3 fingers wide to be acceptable attire for school. I find myself very annoyed by dress codes especially in grade school. Monti has gotten away with no mention of these codes for almost 2 years but Dahlia's teacher had to point it out to me. It was 80 degrees out so I let Dahlia wear a sundress with a shawl like jacket but it was still pointed out to me when I picked her up that her straps were technically too thin. The fashion gods would be angered with such foolish rules.

Cousins
I love the stair step picture of the cousins. It also cute how they are all holding hands. Thanks to Dorinne Richardson for sending us the photo.

Guess we have to leave now
The raccoons reluctantly leave their dinner feast before they have had their fill. Joe literally had to pound on the door and shoo them out before they actually started heading home.
