    Greek salad

This month the parents of the 2nd graders were responsible for the
staff appreciation luncheon at school. We were told to bring in an ethnic dish.
Many people brought in their family specialty. Did I bring lutefisk or
sauerbraten? Nope…I brought in a Greek salad. Some asked if my
husband was Greek. I answered, “No but my roommate in college was
    Greek.”

  • I don’t want the reminder

    I don’t want the reminder

The dashboard on my new car constantly rubs it in how much gas it
sucks down compared to my Prius. I finally couldn’t take it anymore so
I searched for a way to get rid of the message. It was so easy to
remove I should have done it weeks ago. As you can see I haven’t used
the Flex much except for the occasional ride up and down the hill.
Hopefully with warmer weather and regular driving that AVG MPG will go
up but honestly I may never check that feature out again. It is way
    too painful.

  • Singing workshop

    Singing workshop

Monti is here with Robert Edwin, a singing instructor from New York.
Every year he holds a workshop for students of Nedra, Monti’s singing
teacher. He has so much energy and he is great at working with the
kids. Monti sang “I’ve got no strings” from Pinocchio for him. He
wanted her to feel what Pinocchio was feeling when he sings this song
so he wrapped her up in a cord and made her sing it all confined. He
asked her if she liked singing all tied up. Then he freed her of the
cord and said sing it again. So she sang it again with a little more
movement. So many of the kids had to work on loosening up while
    singing.

  • Pandemic

    Pandemic

Having Junior living with us means a lot more game playing for Joe.
They have even been able to talk me into playing a couple games with
them. Pandemic is a cooperative game where you try to prevent a virus
from taking over the world. We were able to beat it the first time we
played with three players but we found out afterwards we were playing
one of the steps completely wrong. I think it will be very challenging
    to beat.

    Tattoo on the forehead

My girls insist on putting tattoos on their forehead. They have been
very challenging to remove especially on Monti’s forehead due to her
scar there. This has lead Monti into considering doing her science
fair project on what removes temporary tattoos best from skin.

    Show 2

In the second show of Winterfest Monti will perform with her hip hop
class. It should be very entertaining. We were at dress rehearsal for
about 3.5 hours. Even Monti said she was tired and ready for bed
    while we were driving home.

    Dress rehearsal for Winterfest

Right after school we had to head to Renton for dress rehearsal of the
girl’s dance show. All the girls need their hair up in a bun and
theatrical make-up on. Monti is doing jazz in the first show and
    Dahlia is doing tap.

  • Birthday cupcakes

    Birthday cupcakes

At the end of school on Friday I brought cupcakes in to celebrate
Monti’s birthday. She had a chance to celebrate in school during her
star student week because normally she would be out of school on her
birthday. I was pretty late bringing in the cupcakes but Monti hugged
me and said, “I knew you were coming. You have never disappointed me.”
I know this should make me happy but it only stresses me out because I
know one day I will disappoint her.
