After an extensive scavenger hunt through the house the girls and I packed up to go to a friend’s house for Easter. Chelle had several families over for brunch and an Easter egg hunt. Among all the hidden plastic colored eggs there was a golden egg with a special prize in it. Monti had seen all the plastic eggs earlier and the week and she was very curious about a certain large green egg that had a good rattle when you shook it. Unfortunately for Monti it was the egg the dads decided to cover in gold foil. She was so determined to find this one egg that she didn’t get many eggs in general. When she and another boy spotted the golden egg it was too high for her to get. The bigger boy rushed in and retrieved her egg; Monti was crushed. She came in the house in tears sobbing about how she hated being small. Later that day I found her standing outside in the rain without a coat. I tried to get her to come inside but she said she was punishing herself for being so single focused during the egg hunt.
