    Caught in broad daylight

Five stinkin' raccoons huddled around the cat food container in our
cat room off the garage at 5pm. The fifth one is to the right. We have
been closing the cat room up at night or removing the food but once
again they figured out how to get the food. Come before it gets dark.
The raccoons make such a raucous when they come into the house Joe can
hear it from his office above which is exactly how he caught these
    thieves red-handed.

  • Going nuts for chickens

    Going nuts for chickens

Behind the Dahlia barn was a chicken coop. Joe and the girls always love seeing a bunch of squeezable little bawkers. The flower picking took a back seat to trying to feed the chickens small green leaves.

    Dahlia Barn

We went to a pick-your-own Dahlias farm. Dahlia said she couldn’t handle seeing her name all over the place. We picked 2 dozen flowers of all different shapes and colors. Of course our favorite Dahlia was too busy playing with the chickens to pick more than a couple flowers.

    Punk rock dog

This dog was at the food fest. If Maggie had a dog she would probably have all kinds of fashionable fun with it just like this little guy.

  • PCC fest

    PCC fest

Nothing gets the girls trying different foods better than taking them to a food fair. From the crowds that were there all day I guess the same is true for most people. They say that 7,000-10,000 will go through this small fair that is simply a large tent next to the local grocery store but they do have excellent samples. PCC stands for Puget Consumers Co-op.

    Dahlia’s ballet/tap class

This morning Dahlia woke up and said "Is today by ballet class?" She
has been so excited to start dance and wear her pretty lavender
outfit. There are only 3 girls in her class at the moment which is
great because she will get lots of individual attention.

  • Monti’s hip hop class

    Monti’s hip hop class

Monti's second dance class of the week is on Fridays. It is hip hop
dance and it looks like a FUN class. The teacher was dressed like a
"gangsta" or at least that is what another little girl said. It is
hard for me to sit still when I watch the teacher lead the class. I
just want to get moving with them. I will have to try some of these
hip-hop moves on the dance floor in Vegas. Note: I looked into whether
"hip hop" should be hyphenated and their were several web pages
debating if or when it should be hyphenated. I included it both ways
because I got sick of looking for a conclusive answer on "to hyphen or
    not to hyphen".

  • Fancy dinner

    Fancy dinner

The girls surrounded the flowers with candles to make our dinner extra
fancy. The flowers were a thank-you gift from my friend for helping
her through her panic when she couldn't find her kids after school.
Truth be told I was so focused on my own kids at the bus stop I never
noticed the three of her kids get off the bus and head home. By the
time I ran into her on her way to the bus stop the kids were already
home but we hadn't noticed. I feel like this is a reoccurring theme –
me not noticing things. I guess I know what I need to work on this
school year. I felt entirely guilty accepting the flowers.

  • back at the pool

    back at the pool

Monti has improved so much in the water since she has been swimming
with her friend Knicole. Joe would throw toy rubber torpedos into the
pool for the girls to go diving after while I shivered in the shade.
Joe didn't last very long in the pool before heading to the hot tub
but the kids were very happy he stopped by to play with them.

Olivia – one of their favorites

Dahlia brought home her first book from the school library. She knows
that her dad loves "Olivia" books.
