    Shamu’s Happy Harbor

Shamu’s Happy Harbor at Sea World area was perfect for our girls. It
was full of little kiddie rides that even Dahlia would get on. We
would not have even made it over to this area of the park if our
flight hadn’t been delayed for 2.5 hours. It worked out great with the
delay except for the fact that we didn’t make it home until 2 am after the 6 hr, 4 minute flight.

    Soak Zone

The Shamu show was so crowded we sat near the front in the “Soak
Zone”. We were right in the sun so we were very hot and miserable. We
were all praying to get soaked. Unfortunately we all stayed pretty dry.

    Getting a chance to fly

She was too scared for most of the rides but this was the perfect activity for Dahlia. I think the key to her enjoyment is to be in total control.

    Drenched on the water rides

Monti and Joe went on the water ride while Dahlia and I waited on the
bridge. Dahlia added quarters to a machine that set off water geysers placed which if timed right soaked the people inside the boat. She practiced her moves several times before Joe and Monti came down. When they finally turned our corner Dahlia made sure they got wet.

  • Dolphin show

    Dolphin show

The dolphin show rocked over the Shamu “Believe” show. The “Believe” show
was filled with lots of cheesy mock heartfelt moments in this video without many
tricks at all. The dolphin show combined truly cool trainer/dolphin
bits and a “Cirque Du Soleil” like trapeze/diving act.

  • Feeding the dolphins

    Feeding the dolphins

It cost $7 per person to feed the dolphins. Touching the dead fish was
a deal breaker for Dahlia so she passed. Monti would pet the dolphin
under the chin and then drop a fish in it’s mouth.

  • Universal Studios

    Universal Studios

Monti enjoyed several aspects of Universal Studios while Dahlia was
terrified of everything including The Cat in the Hat. Both girls need
about 5 years before they will really be ready for what Universal
    offers.

Mat was getting ready to leave on his 11 hour trek back to North
Carolina. While Mat worked on fitting all his Rock Band stuff (both
video game and real drum and guitars) into his car, his parents made
sure the windows were crystal clear.

    you cannot leave

If you look closely at the front of the car you can see a peacock head. As we were leaving one of the peacocks caught a glimpse of himself in the shiny black car we were in. He would not leave the car alone. We couldn’t move at all without hitting this narcissistic peacock. However it did allow Dahlia a chance to do what she wanted to do all day long – chase the peacock away.
