The simple task of relaxing at the end of yoga class can be very
difficult. Here is what happens:
We are all laying down on our mats eyes closed with lavender scented
bean bags over them. We first breathe- in and out, in and out. Inhale,
Exhale.
OK , I can do this
The yogi says “Imagine your favorite place, a place you are
comfortable and safe in.”
My media room playing Rock Band – No that is not the kinda place they
want – a beach somewhere – No I really don’t care for beaches – My hot
tub – That will work!
Imagine the sounds of your favorite place, she says.
I hear the cars on I90 (Joe hates that sound)…now the girls are
yelling at each other. OK this is not working. I need to find a
favorite place that works….I brainstorm for ideas and immediately
eliminate every idea I come up with. I am purely frustrated. I decide
I have no favorite place! Just forget it.
I guess I need some work on the meditation part of yoga but I do a
darn good “tree pose”.
